Favourite Subject

Hello everyone :)

This time I will talk about my favourite subject this semester.

When we were in 3er semester, our older friends of the career told us that the 4th semester could be two things: so much easy - so hard. For me was the second one.
About our schedule of classes, we had six subjects: anthropology IV, prehistory, ethnology in Chile, introduction to ethnography, investigation workshop and psychology.
Nevertheless, my favourite subject wasn't one of the obligatory subject, was a CFG. The CFG is a course of general training (that we can choose) who was about the Basque country. The classes were very stimulating, because our teacher is Basque and she taught us the easy way to learn the topics. The main contents were the history of the Basque country (so the teacher presented the subject) and language (the class tried to speak). So, mostly of the time the class was trying to learn to speak. In the course, we saw the numbers, how to introduce yourself, the most important things about myths, celebrations and the conformation of the country.
I like this subject because his history is very exciting, and his lenguage is unique. So, if you study at the University of Chile, I recommend the Euskera CFG.

pd: To make a little introduction about language, I will introduce me in Euskera:

Kaixo! Ni Betsabé Garrido naiz. Txilekoa naiz, eta Santiagon vizi naiz. Hogei urte ditut.
(Hi! I'm Betsabé Garrido. I'm from Chile and I live in Santiago. I'm twenty years old.)

pd2: this is the last post of the year, so we read the next year!

Levi Strauss, a big fish

Today dear friends I will talk about Levy-Strauss, an important academic who made greats contributions to anthropology.

Claude Levy-Strauss was a french anthropologist. He started studying philosophy but with time, sociology, geology and other topics attracted him more. In 1934 became in teacher of Sociology at the University de Sao Paulo. In that place he with his first wife (who was ethnologist) made his first studies of other communities. Since that time, he travelled to Europe to other continents for studying other cultures.

His form of made the knowledge was a innovations to anthropology, because for him what anthropologist should search was the unconscious structure of people, where the culture hidden; all of us are different but we can understand between us because all structural minds work in the same way. In relation to that, other important contributions were the theory of the alliance and structure of myths. This theories take alliance an myths with another perspective (structural), so through them we can find the structure of society.

I know him because in my career have a course dedicated to his work. First I don't understood, but when I learned his methods, I believe he was brilliant.

Thanks Levi Strauss for your mind, you will be always a big fish in anthropology

Movies

Today I’m going to write about movies :)

When I think a thing that I really enjoy to do (beside other things like spend time with my friends, family and boyfriend) come to me movies. For me, watch movies is a way to see in other feelings of human person, that I felt in past or feel in present.  I don’t know if this happen to you, but for each occasion (that is for each emotion) I have some favourite movies to watch.  So, when I’m happy I search in recommendations of Itunes to see a movie. When a choose one go to my computer to watch. But not always I see movies like that (it is means searching), most of the time I seat in the couch and turn on tv hahahaha. In my house we have satelital tv so frequently channels are transmitting good movies.
Sometimes people ask me what are my favourite movie. I can’t answer that!!! It is impossible for me choose one, or two, or three! So I made a list with my favourite five movies:
  1.          Harry Potter (all)
  2.          About time
  3.     Pride and prejudice
  4.      Jane Eyre
  5.     He's just not that into you

When I was in Tercero Medio, I did a list with all movies that in that time I saw. I remember that almost was two hundred movies! Today I’m in second year of my career, so the number of that list obviously grow.

And you, remember the number of movies you have seen?

Thanks for reading, until the next post :)

Freak data: I can’t see horror movies, I really scared by them.

Moments

If you have to choose one picture that you like because it represents one moment of your life that was special, what picture will you choose?

In my case, I choose the last time when I got together with my friends. It was a really special day

It all started when we met in Primero medio in High School. Luckily, all of us got in the same class. Me, Fanny and Francisca became really good friends in Segundo medio, when we spendt more time together in the classroom (because in Primero medio was the "Revolución Pingüina", so during nine months we were in our home studying). So, in the year 2012, we were talking about us and the things that happen in our lives. In Tercero medio we separated because I went to the humanistic area and my friends to the mathematics-biology area.
So, I was in a new classroom, but at least two times a week we had lunch together. Time went by and the rest of high school, but we always saw one each other.
In Cuarto medio we graduated together, it was so emotional.
Now, all of us are studying different careers but we take the time to meet sometimes. The last time was at the beginning of October, we were in high school (playground) and Francisca took the picture.
I like the photo because the three of us appear happy J and it reminds me that friendship is stronger if you want to, no matter the time or distance.

That was the history of today, See you J

The life

Máximo all days of his life

That is the way I want stay all days of my life

Technology

Why we love technology?
Maybe it could be the television of 40 inches, the music set that surrounds, or computers that make life easier, etc., or the games like Ps3-4. Other reason could be that with technology, the medicine can make great progress to make people feel good. But I think that we really love the technology because it is useful to do things with less problems. When I finished Cuarto medio, I got my cellphone. I decided to buy an Iphone because when I was searching I discovered that the cellphone doesn't get stuck, the important apps were free and the system in general is faster. So, I bought it because I thought that it would help me with the university. At present, I use it to speak with my friends and parents, to see Facebook (hahahaha) and emails, the app of university, u-cursos, where the teachers upload papers, notes and send emails, and sometimes, I use it to play games. I will say that I frequently use my phone to see Facebook and email, in addition to write to my friends and boyfriend. When I have a lot of work, my phone disappears, but when I have free time, my phone entertains me. So that is why I like it hahahaha

Nevertheless, sometimes is necessary rest of technology, and take a real book, speak front in front with people, go outside to enjoy things, etc. The life without technology could be bored to us, but as same as the past, we will learn to do things without it

Until the next post :)

Harry Potter: the saga

I need confess that I like so much Harry Potter.

All started when I saw the first movie when I was 12 years old. In that time doesn't liked me, did not call my attencion. But as time passed, with a new film view, every time started to me  interest the world of magic and adventure of Harry Potter.

If you don't know that world, I will introduce you :)
All begun whith a bad man, Lord Vodemort but really called Tom Marvolo Riddle. When he was in the 20s years old become in the more dark wizard of the magical world. He has so much power, so recruited people for his army to take the world (including non wizards). The people who were against him were killed. That's was what happened to the parents of Harry Potter, whom the dark Lord threw unforgivable curses (because they are very violent). Lord Voldemort tried to kill Harry to, but for a strange reason the curse bounced him and "killed him", leaving Harry only a mark on the forehead.
But the dark Lord survived in a strange way, depended on others, but he only wanted to regain their power back.
So the films is all about the relationship between Harry Potter and Lord Voldemort.

If you don't know, the movies are based in the books of J.K. Rowling. Since I liked the movies I wanted read the books, but for money I can't. Nevertheless, when I got my phone I found the books! They are so much better than movies, give you to other world with wonderful things. It is a world of posibilities. Besides, is a god way to relax and forget work of university, it is a god way to enjoy life.

Well, I like Harry Potter, but any book is good to let your mind fly. So read more and learn more!

Until the next post! :)

pd: If you like HP, J.K Rowling just reported to be 5 movies over Fantastic Beasts And How To Find Them

About my career

.... Why did I choose?

Well, as you will see in the post below, I'm studying Anthropology; so I'm telling you why I decided this career hahaha :)

I think it all started when I was a little girl who liked the ancients civilizations, like Maya, Inca and Egypt. In fact, I liked reading about them in my free time. When I was in secondary school, I completely forgot all about that. I remember thinking that the career requires so much compromise and I was too lazy, and I really did not know if that career existed in Chile. So, I thought in other career like Medical technology but in Segundo medio I decided to go to the humanist area.

So, when I was in Cuarto medio, I had to choose one career, so I search the academic offer of the university that I thought I  could join it. I was sure that theory and arts history will be my future. But when I got the results of PSU, I decided to reconsider my career and started to search again. I thought in Political Science in PUC, but I never was too sure, so I continue looking for. That was how I discovered Anthropology! I knew that the Universidad de Chile had specialities (Social and Physical anthropology and Archaeology) so I decided to join Archaeology.

The first year of the career was very good. It is hard to get good marks but is not impossible. In general the teachers are excellent, but the place that we had clases is and was terrible! We were around 100 pleople in one room.
In second year we are in the same room, but in almost all classes we are around 50, so it is much easier to concentrate.
About my future jobs I would like to work as a researcher  and  teacher :)

About me

Hi everyone :)
My name is Betsabé but in general everybody calls me Betsa. I'm 20 years old and I live in Santiago with my family and pets. In fact, the name of this blog is in honor to my dog, Máximo.
I'm from Chile and now i live in Santiago, but when I was younger, a little kid, I used to lived in Constitución.

I'm a student of anthropology of the university of Chile. This career requires time and habilites to read, but you discover so much about society and how life works.

Another thing about me, is that I like so much classical music; when I was younger I started playing violin, but school and university make time a value thing nowadays. In relation to my personal life, I am in a relationship since December 2014. One important topic here, its my dog. Its a 10 years old basset hound, so lovely and cute, with long beautiful ears.
About my hobbies, I like movies (so much), sleeping and eating, like all people.

And that's all :)
